Directions
TIP: Mark the ends of your monofilament lines in different colors to help you keep track of the left and right lines.
Instructions &
Diagram
Cupcake
1. Use the brown AB facet beads to make the
bottom of the cupcake. Take 1 yd. of the monofilament and string on 5 beads. Bring to the middle of the line. Criss-cross the lines through the last bead added forming a circle. Try to keep the two ends of the line at equal lengths on your circle of beads.
2. On the left line add 3 beads and criss-cross the lines through the last bead added forming circle 2.
3. Pass the right line through the adjacent bead. On the left line add 2 beads. Criss-cross the lines through the last bead added to form circle 3.
4. Repeat step 3 to form circle 4.
5. Repeat step 3 to form circle 5.
6. Pass the right line through the next 2 adjacent beads. On the left line add 1 bead and criss-cross the lines through it to form circle 6.
7. When you pull the lines through the last bead, you should see a 5-bead circle. Reinforce the circle by passing the lines through adjacent beads until the lines meet.
8. Knot the lines together. Pass the ends of the lines through adjacent beads to hide knots and trim off excess.
Frosting
1. Use the beads in the color you chose for the frosting. Take 1-1/2 yd. of monofilament and string on 5 beads. Bring to the middle of the line. Criss-cross the lines through the last bead added. Adjust the lines so that they are equal lengths.
2. On the left line, add 4 beads. Criss-cross the lines through the last
bead added.
3. Pass the right line through the adjacent bead. On the left line, add 3 beads. Criss-cross the lines through the last bead added.
4. Repeat step 3 to from circle 4.
5. Repeat step 3 to from circle 5.
6. Pass the right line through the next 2 adjacent beads. Add 2 beads and criss-cross the lines through the last bead added to from circle 6.
7. Place the frosting on top of the cupcake bottom (Make sure the 5-brown beaded circle of the cupcake bottom is at the bottom. You should only see
4-brown beaded circles and 5-beaded circles of the frosting from the sideview of the cupcake). When attaching the frosting to the cupcake
bottom you will only be passing the line through the bottom row of the
frosting and the middle/bottom row of the cupcake bottom. Pass the left
line through 3 adjacent brown beads then pass it through 2 adjacent
frosting beads.
8. Rotate the cupcake clockwise (keeping a sideview of the cupcake) and pass the same line through 3 adjacent brown beads then pass the line through 2 adjacent frosting beads in the same path as step 7.
9. Rotate the cupcake clockwise and pass the same line through 3 adjacent brown beads. The line should end up in the same place you started. Pass both lines through adjacent beads going toward the top of the cupcake.
10. Looking down at the frosting there’s a 5-beaded circle. Add the dark red bead to both lines, passing both lines in the same direction. Continue to pass both lines through the frosting bead on the opposite side.
11. Separate both lines then pass each line through an adjacent bead. Knot each line then pass through adjacent beads to hide knots. Trim off excess the line.
